Diffusion is when a fluid [liquid or gas] passes from a place of high concentration to a low concentration. Example, say someone farts in one part of a room, the people next to the farter can smell it right away very strongly. Over time, the smell will spread out so that people further away can smell it - but less strongly. Eventually, the smell will have spread out so much, no one can smell it as the concentration is too low. This is diffusion.

It can also be the separation of particles by using a diffusion material like a special membrane that allows smaller particles to pass through while blocking larger ones. (Like a filter).
(In gaseous form, under high vacuum, a compound of Uranium is separated into U 235 and U 238 by diffusion processes using special membranes, in conjunction with centrifuges).

Like you add some salt into your soup and dun stir it but after a few hours, the whole bowl of soup will taste salty. This is because diffusion has occurred.

yeah what ^^^^ said, its like a light has a cover on it, its called a diffuser, this is to take away the initial intensity as well as spread the light so that it is softer and more even in the desired area, take away the diffuser and you get a more intense light with less coverage.

It means the movement of particles through a permeable membrane from an area where there is a high concentration, to an area where there is a lower concentration. This then equals out the concentration so that is equal on both sides of the membrane.

Diffusion is taking a mass and spreading it out so its less concentrated like light or water going thru a filter or lens. light going thru a prism breaks it down into light spectrum.
