I really want to spend a year in the USA but I'm having trouble working out what visa I'd need. I'm not particulary qualified in anything but would probably want a live-out nanny job. I've looked at many websites but don't want to commit to anything just yet. I just want to get there and look around for a job but it looks difficult. Does anyone have any suggestions?

First, you will need to apply for and be granted the appropriate visa. you cannot enter the U.S. under the visa waiver program or on a B1/B2 visa and seek employment or work. See websites below. Best way to get the needed info is to contact the nearest American Embassy or consulate.
