I feel terrible for her and I hope she gets the rest/treatment needed to overcome this illness. They are a fantastic band, and I wish them the best.

It could be that she just needs some time off to rest and regroup. Touring is NOT the cakewalk everyone seems to think it is. You don't just fall out of bed and hit the stage. It can be tedious and exchausting. One tour I was on, about ten years ago, any drive under 12 hours was cause for celebration. Being stuck on a tourbus for that long can cause anyone to go bonkers.
Either that, or there was some kind of contract dispute that can't be resolved, and this is the way out.

Hey Dave mate you OK? :) Yeah I love The White stripes. Well... I love their album Elephant anyway. I'm about to go to sleep (I think), so I can't listen to those songs at the moment. But I've starred this question and I'll listen to them when I next have time to go on the computer. Bands that sound like the White Stripes... Oooh hmmmm. Perhaps Wolfmother and The Black Keys.

acute anxiety is a serious problem, also touring artists do have a tendency to suffer from exhaustion which could make anxiety worse
i have dealt with people who have serious mental issues and they all have one thing in common, sometimes it leaves them unable to work, or even function in society, so although your probably disappointed, please bear in mind that other people have problems too, regardless of being famous

I feel really sorry for her. I've dealt with anxiety issues my whole life and sometimes it's a struggle just to talk to one person, let alone perform in front of millions. It's no minor ailment.

I think that her "acute anxiety" and any other problems she may be dealing with isn't any of our business, and I don't think you should judge her unfairly when you don't really know what's going on.

I submit you have no knowledge of acute anxiety or any other mental illness.

It's probably a lot more serious than a little nervousness. Panic attacks really mess people up-make u hyperventilate and sweat and **** like that.
