Anaheim has played 6 games while a few teams have only played one so far. I never pay much attention to the preseason but after checking the standings today I couldn't help but notice the disparity. Is there any reason for this?

Each team is responsible for setting up their own pre-season schedule. Some teams think they need more games than other teams.

In the case of Anaheim and Los Angeles, they open the season a week earler than everybody else, so they started their training camps and pre-season ahead of everyone else as well.

Money is a big part of it-the neutral site games are pure profit for the teams as local promoters make the arrangements and then hand over a cheque. I don't think they really need all those pre-season games to prepare for an 80 game season.
