I was looking up my ex's file online and he has 17 open court cases...the last one being on his birthday. It says Civil Other. I was just wondering what that could be. I don't like sending my son with him, especially with his bad record and wanting to know what he could have done now. Most of the past cases were traffic infractions. But what is Civil Other. Thanks!

He hasn't had a job or his own place to live in years. He usually finds some girl to shack up with and lives off of her, or else his parents. So I am just really curious to see what he has gotten himself into this time.

Usually a law suit for property damage or a bodily injury claim. It can be for breach of contract, faliure to pay bills, or any activity you can think of that it not a criminal offense.

It is probably a civil lawsuit as opposed to a criminal one. For what that could be, you probably don't have the access to know, and it could be almost anything. Ask you ex and maybe he would tell you for free.

If you are concerned about sending your son to him, however, you probably want to try and work out a better arrangement with him between the two of you first. If that is not an option, I recommend consulting an attorney. The cost of doing so is probably less than you think, and, in the long run, less than the cost it would be if your relationship with your ex turns further south. A family law attorney will be best suited to help determine what your legal options as far as further limiting his access to your child than myself and anyone else posting free advice online. Good luck.

I was the guardian of my granson for 13years and gave it up 2 years ago to his mother and father....mother being primary, now my grandson is living with us again. Over the years I had purchased alot of stuff for my grandson to include a bed over $2000.00, computer desk ect...and when he was withhis dad he gave him for Christmas a 50' inch TV and later purchased him a matteress. Now when we made the trip to his dad's house to get his stuff the dad would only let us get some stuff...none of what I had bought him. The dad said he had given away his TV and sold his matteress again these were gifts he had given my granson...I am saying all this to ask, 'Can I sue the dad for the things I purchased and for the TV and matteress? And its not like we can go pick them up we made the trip to go get them and we live over 500 miles for the dad.
