That's why you never hear about drive-by slappings.

Look at the places with the strictest gun control, they have a higher crime rate than those with less gun control. I agree that it is easy to kill someone with a gun, but it is possible to kill with other objects. In Switzerland, all of age men are required to carry a gun, yet they have a low crime rate. If you take the gun out of the hands of the responsible owners, criminals will get their hands on them illegally. I like to know I have the right to own a gun to protect myself. If you had a gun pointed at you, would you really want to be unarmed? I know I don't. I enojy my 2nd Amendment rights and don't abuse that right. My guns are only used for hunting and are locked up whenever they are not being used. Responsibility matters.

People with guns kill, people with knives kill, people with clubs kill. I could go on all day with these examples. In each case the gun, the knife, the club, are inanimate objects that can do nothing on their own. It requires a person to pick them up and use them. A gun is a tool , no better and no worse than the person that wields it.

Not really -- PEOLE do kill... be it with a gun, a knife, w. their bare hands, etc... A gun cannot kill UNLESS the person holding it decides to do so.
I think the motto "people kill" is accurate.
You can have a gun in your home your entire life and not even know it, not use it, etc.
The types of people who kill are cold-hearted killers... the gun is an inanimate object.

I see your point... but they motto that you suggest seems to state that ALL people with guns kill.
I think the meaning behind that phrase is that if someone is a killer, he/she will probably find some way to do it whether he has a gun or not. He just selects the gun because of it's convenience.

With a gun, a person can lose their temper and kill someone.
With a gun, another person can defend themselves and others from the person above.
Without guns, government can wipe out any number of its own citizens (i.e., Nazi Germany, Bosnia, Rwanda, U.S.S.R., Dafur, etc...)
Without guns, knives, bricks, clubs, and fists can kill just as thoroughly.
Let's not disarm ourselves because of what others might do.

Last I knew, the most common weapon used in murder was an ordinary kitchen knife.
Guns don't kill people, people with kitchen knives kill people.
That's honest for you.

I spoke to someone last week who has a sister-in-law who carried that to an extreme. Her sister in law told her that her son, who had shot his wife to death in front of their children, should be out on parole because he had not killed his wife. He just shot her but she died because she "bled out." That removes the situation even one step further from people with guns - it is not the shooting that kills, just the bleeding.

Let me count the ways we can kill each other, kill our own selves, and oh kill folks living in far away places.
Amazing isn't it. I'm not giving up my gun, tho.
