Appears Ahmadinejad's visit to UN next week will be coupled with his visit to Columbia University.

Of course Bush supporters as well as those who detest the man are against such a visit, much less a speech.
I say it is always important to study one's enemy. I look forward to hearing what he has to say.
I imagine many in foreign countries all over the world detest Georgewbush. That's not to say that they wouldn't want to hear what he has to say. Especially in person.

How do you feel about the invite by Columbia?

...and please, let's move a little further than thoughts that Ahmadinejad will be speaking about 'same-oh-same-oh'......
because that is the same thing our own president does......

Thanks.
(btw, tickets are nearly sold out )

I agree. The best thing to do is to study another's view. We won't follow what he would say, but we will have a clearer view of where he's coming from.

No way! Mr Ahmadinejad should be escorted by the secret service from the airport to the UN and then back! No detours, no potty stops, get him to the venue then kick his sorry butt out of the country! This is like letting the Japanese emperor give a speech at a university during the middle of World War II!!
You do remember the Iran Hostage crisis that Jimmy Carter presided over? Ahmadinejad was one of the "student" leaders.

I first spoke out about this. But As long as that is all he will do (visit a classroom), I think it is okay. I do think he is a terrorist. But , it is smart to study your enemies, and get first hand knowledge of their beliefs. I want us to show him as much respect as we would our President (Which means most of you won't show him any). So that we begin showing the world that we are rational. Also, it is the Christian way! I hope the students ask some good questions, as I'm sure they will. Tough questions. Hopefully he can't answer real questions from real people who are not oppressed. I don't think it will do him any true good.

You only have to listen to Ahmadinejad's speeches to his own people to understand what he's thinking.

Anything else is pure BS - something to feed the US media to use against Bush et al. This guy will be behind the detonation of a backpack nuke in the US unless the Israelis nuke him in Tehran.

Tickets are sold out only because Hitler isn't touring anymore.

I think its good for the students, it's important to learn about the world. Having the president of a country that we might go to war with soon speaking at your school is always a plus

It is a testament to the beauty of America

hopefully he will see some of the "Jena 6" case on TV and see how factions of hatred (KKK, Stormfront, etc.) and those they revile (African Americans) can both approach a subject of extreme sensitivity, in a peaceable way in order to assure freedoms and rights are protected

despite racial/political tensions Ahmadinejad will see no car bombs going off in America in response to this Jena 6 issue, he'll see no suicide bombers blowing up the courthouse, he'll see no beheadings, no hands chopped off because of one's ill actions...

Let's show him the strength our freedoms give us and welcome him to a deeper understanding.

I am in favor of letting him speak. He is a megalomaniac. He is crazy; thinks his god has appointed him to start the end of the world.
If he gets going and gets fired up, people may be better able to see how nutty he really is.

i'm horrified that this guy is being invited to talk at a school. My basically convenience is that possibly an excellent form of the scholars would be smart sufficient to renowned a madman whilst they see one. Ahmadinejad has back and back and publicly vowed to smash Israel. good now, Iran has six hundred missiles pointing immediately on the Jewish state. some days in the past, I watched a programme wherein a British journalist replaced into interviewing Ahmadinejad. The Iranian chief back insisted - whilst smiling - that Israel 'would desire to quit to exist'. In Iran women individuals are generally stoned to dying for their 'sins' - adult men not often acquire this punishment, nonetheless. i desire Columbia Uni provides Ahmadinejad the reception he merits. In different words, an icy one.

I think it's disgusting that such a hate-filled bigot is being treated like an honorable person and someone our young people should listen to.

yes, i think it's noble to have someone speak in america who is secretly funding the insurgents in iraq.

while we're at it, let's throw a birthday party for bin laden, and maybe we should have a hitler pride day.
