How is Brazil 3rd in the FIFA rankings, especially considering we've won the continental cup and won the past 8 games? Italy lost to Hungary 3:1, and tied with France.. They beat Ukraine and get a billion points?

So you win a cup, that makes # 1 forever? Face it, they haven't been doing all that great (and I DO like Italy, can't deny my roots!).

A lot of Futbol writers/radio broadcasters....etc... don't take in regard these rankings.....I think its all BS
As for the Italians, wining the World Cup as a lot more weight than the Copa America....and it will hold its weight a lot longer over the next few years....
.....I have no idea how Argentina continues to hold 2nd.....How England is ahead of Croatia (who Croatia has beaten and is ahead of them in the Euro Qualifiers group).
Little things like these make one questions the validity of these rankings.
Edit: Wining the World Cup is the holy grail of Football and it will hold more weight in the mathematical formula used of how these teams are ranked. A continental cup is only worth so much less against the world cup. I believe they use a weighted average.

The FIFA rankings are a farce - even though they were recently revamped.
I have not had time to develop a better ranking system yet.
Until then, it really doesn't matter - the pitch is where the real rankings come. I wonder if Argentina is thrilled with their second place ranking as opposed to losing the Copa America to Brasil.

These rankings are nonsense. Especially since you can't really rate a team in football - anyone can beat anybody (almost).
