This is very diffficult for me because trhere are so many historical people that deserve our admiration and respect and others who deserve our revilement and consternation. The one I pick would be Abraham Lincoln because of all the folklore and real history behind the man and why he has received all our admiration and respect and yet may not be as great a person as was once stated. Yet it is interesting to note of all he put up with , namely the tragedies of war and his personal depression , his wife s mental problems, their children's death etc.and yet sparkle at times when everyone and that includes his personal friends thought he was unworthy of the presidency. (Lincoln Douglas debates; Gettysburg Address ; trouble keeping the Uniontogether on the battlefield because of his generals incompetency and the Second Inaugural adddress as well as the last speech just 4 days before his death.)

Marilyn Monroe. Not sure what it was about her. I did my senior thesis on the many theories of her death. Evil teacher gave me a C.
