They've always been over-rated. They fire head coaches like George Steinbrenner fires managers. They haven't realized yet that they are not the premier college football program. They can't recruit because who wants to play for a loser that keeps firing coaches? They put too much faith in "god" and not enough in just building a good program. They'll likely set records this year for the most losses by a ND team, if they lose today it will be their first 0-4 start. Charlie "donut boy" Weiss won't be able to recruit, so he can't be successful, even if he does learn how to coach. After a few years, he'll get replaced. The new coach will need several years to rebuild, for the kids to learn that the coach will still be there for a few years. Then they'll be able to recruit, and win, but that will take 10 years. This could be the year Navy beats them.

If the NCAA had any spine they'd make ND a 2A team.

Because the last two years Ty Willingham coached were the two WORST recruiting classes ND ever had. Yes, Ty Willingham recruited Brady Quinn but no one ever expected him to be as good as he was. That was the result of Charlie Weis's mentoring. Weis had a better recruiting class his first year in but not great. Last year he had the top recruiting class until the very end when USC and Florida pulled ahead. This year we have the #1 recruiting class and all of them have said that they are still committed to ND even with this horrible season. They see the potential of the Irish with Weis leading the way.
After this week in practice and all the scrutiny they've come under, they will come out and beat Michigan State today.
