If you call the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil just the Tree of Knowledge then you're missing the point that eating of it was a sin.

Dealing with the sin in our lives is paramount. If we had all the knowledge we possibly could, as humanity, and did not have our savior, we would all perish.

The tales of the tree of life and the tree of knowledge are older than the Hebrew religion. They were part of the Akkadian religious beliefs that migrated into both eastern and western religions.

The tree of knowledge is our greatest gift. Gnostic's believe as do kabalists that we can gain knowledge from the tree of light. It will open our eyes to the Truth around us.

It's sad that people think it is a bad thing, because eve ate from it. The christian god is a jealous angry one who does not want people to have the power to see.
