There's a good chance. The mistake currently being made is a focus on "life" visible to our limited senses or sensory technology. Seems more likely alien life would not be so similar to our own carbon based system and should be contacted through techniques involving altered states of consciousness under controlled conditions (to the extent possible). Science doesn't seem to take this route seriously.

They might find proof of alien life, but not intelligent alien life, because it would take over 100,000 years to the nearest star (Alpha Centauri) at 25,000 mph, and no planets are even orbiting it. Proof of God can be found in nature, depending on your definition of "God." By the conventional meaning of the word "God," I don't think direct proof will ever be found, just as there will never be any direct proof of any prevailing theories of the origins of the universe; only indirect evidence that might be the result of 'such-and-such' events theorized to mark the beginning of spacetime.

Probably not in the next 20 years. More like thousands, hundreds of thousands of years from now, I bet they will discover life on another planet.
