I just finished feeding my daughter and I noticed I have some sort of blister on my nipple. It's sort of purplish blue (like a bruse), and looks like it will start to bleed if I continue feeding on that breast.
What is it?

Could be a crack. There are creams for this, ask your pharmicists about it.

It could be a blood blister, or a crack about to form. Lansinoh (found with baby stuff at the store) will help with cracks in your nipples. But what is really happening is that she isn't getting a proper latch, which is harder then you think. If you get a crack in your nipple a nipple shield will allow your nipple to heal.

I would not recommend a doctor because while they can help with the sore, they're not going to be able to help too much with the nursing aspect. The training on breastfeeding in medical school is not what a La Leche League gal has, nor does it include her experience when it comes to latching on and proper technique. Unless you know an MD that specializes in nursing babies.....

The link is to LLL and you can find a local chapter that you can go to or they can visit you at home sometimes. It really is worth it!
