If you are past 50 then you are a piece of living history. Just think of it half a century of cumulative knowledge locked up in your brain.
Make use of it. You have learnt so much over all those years. It is there for the finding if you take time out so sit down, clear your mind and work it out.
Addition after your addition!!!!
Oh I can relate to what you are saying! I think it is a problem of our too fast societies these days. People have forgotten basic human kindness and politeness in the rush to text, email and generally work 5 lifetimes in three minutes!!
I am sorry I have nothing I can say to you except put your faith in God and try to be the best you, you can be.
Whenever I have felt totally ignored , knocked backwards or down, something has always happened to renew my faith in both God and people.
Just this weekend in fact!
I do find having somewhat more than 50 years of living behind me helps me to deal with it. But believe me you are not alone. There are hundreds and thousands of us out there who feel like you do.
Take care and be strong.

How are they blocking your path?
If you have a close friend ask them why they think this is happening? Ask them to be truthful and point out your flaws. Are you negative? That turns people off. When you go for a job are you dressed right for that job? You might want to practice answers for those stupid questions they ask.
It's a sad fact of life that people are not treated the same when they age or lose their looks. Young people have very stressful lives themselves and are not available or willing to help very often. If people won't listen to what you have to say, ask yourself what it is that you are saying? Is it critical or judging?

Yes, this happens. I understand what you're saying on a very personal level.
I persevere. I continue my path regardless. It causes friction. But such is life.
You reach a certain age, where it really is imperative to follow your own beat of the drum. Ignore the negative attitudes and nay sayers. Surround yourself with people of like mind if you can. Never give up or you'll lose a deep part of your soul.

Everyone should have there own path to follow that brings them joy, happiness, and relaxation. No two people are the same, so stick to your path and your goals, you will be much happier.
Middle age(where I am) is the time to explore those interest and hobbies and lifestyles that you have always had in your mind but never had time to do. Enjoy Life.

If you sit yourself down and ask yourself who you are, what do you want to be and how can I get there it should not make a difference in what "people" do or say.
Often I find that people blame others for thier own lack of direction, drive and confidence.
Hey, it's nice to have outside support but the drive has to come from inside yourself. Then, it won;t matter what others say or do.

You do not have to feel this way.You alone can make great changes to your life,First of all you are your own person and you must learn to love yourself more and more each day.Nobody can block your life. You are a fully grown adult and you can please yourself wharever you think or say.If no one listens to you then you alone have your own opinions and that is all that matters.I'm sure you are a very intelligent person and can be your own person. You do not need people to listen to you and then criticize you.Confidence is all you need and nobody can take that away from you.

I feel that these people don't appreciate you, they don't respect you. Such lack of respect can develope in many ways, if you're sitting around and feeling bad then it isn't going to help. You need to shout at someone, and complain about these things.
My father was on the verge of losing his job because he was taking compassionate leave because my mother was ill, they said they'd sack him. He said they could screw their job because his family is more important and in the end he kept his job, was allowed some leave and earnt respect from it.

Walk around them. In the mean time get out a bucket of popcorn and watch "Fried Green Tomatoes" and "Elizabeth Town".

middle age.... that is a matter of perception .... Life isn't a spectator sport... you have to be active in it... Too many of us have let the great mysterious THEM write the rules for us... you clear your own path and don't let someone else bring your down because it's inconvenient for them... You have rights fight for them...
