Yes I do, when you or someone extends the arm of friendship it is a responsibility to accept, care, and guide that friendship into a meaningful relationship that evolves into all aspects of each others lives and protect from outside influences that may harm one another. The only thing i see as an opportunity where friendship is concerned is having an opportunity to have friendship in your life.

Opportunity.

The responsibility is one way of looking at the opportunity if you feel you have to control the situation but friendships can be made of tougher stuff than steel and last you a lifetime if you just appreciate the opportunity which you have been fortunate to experience.

A lot of the times I do see it as a responsibility instead of an opportunity. Mostly cause I don't feel like I can keep up with myself and my own family, so adding time into other people in the mix makes me feel worn. But some people who I consider friends, I have such an attachment to that I wouldn't walk away if they wanted time with me. (unless I absolutely have too.)

I think friendship is both responsibility (giving), and opportunity (receiving)...With at least two people, both giving and receiving...for a healthy friendship.

Opportunity for what? It's nice if a friend is a responsible person.
