Better off. Most of us have learned tolerance and respect. Some are still learning, it appears.

Different - yes!

London Transport, the rubber company in Southall and the health service would have collapsed without them back in the latter half of the last century.

Overall I would have to say better off. Every new ethnic group adds a special something to the mix.

In another twenty years even the Eastern Europeans will probably have been assimilated and the problems forgotten.

The terrorist problem would still be with us, even without mass immigration. From a different source maybe.

I tend to feel that nationalities who form their own ethnic communities within a host nation end up being their own worst enemies. Speaking their own language and mainly socialising amongst their own. It is hardly surprising this leads to suspicion from the locals. Those from the Indian sub-continent who live in the UK are guilty of this, but there again so are the Brits on the Costa del Geriatrica in Spain.

Is England better off ? I don't really know, but I couldn't imagine living in a land without the option of a balti, a chicken tikka masala or a keema naan. Could you ?

Initially I suppose it was a good thing, however, right at this moment we are approaching the point in time where we are starting to suffer reverse discrimination.

This will only get worse as time goes by, untill such time that the indigenous residents of he Uk will have little or no say in everyday life, other than those views which fall in to line with those of the ethnic minorities (Soon to be majorities)

\can I turn this on it's head and ask if India and Pakistan were better off without Britain occupying them? We have a sure history of arrogantly taking control of others cultures, maybe time to allow others to be part of ours? I for one really enjoy being part of the one world, and learning about music/ food. dancing/cultures don't you|?

No I don't believe it is any more than if it was any other nationality, This country is importing the worst elements from from all over the globe. Our crime rate has increased while in the towns they have come from it has decreased. I do not single out any particular nationality It is just that we cannot sustain the NHS ( or any service for that matter ) if we do not control immigration

There have been immigrants from these countries in England for centuries!!! So it would be very difficult to imagine what things would be like without them. I think its the white, council estate, chav, unemployed, sponging scum we should get rid of in this country!!!

Well, they have added to our culture. You can get a fantastic curry and buy batteries on Christmas day from the corner shop.
