I'm really a pretty shy person. I feel a little intimidated about asking someone to be one of my contacts.

People ask for things all the time. Usually the answer is yes or no. Considering the 50-50 chance you have of getting the answer you prefer, it's a good chance you'll get the answer you want.

Just ask politely. No matter what type of response, you have done your part.

Aside from this, why do you fear rejection? Sometimes "no" is a blessing in disguise. Find ways to develop your confidence. You have just as much right to be on this planet as anyone else. Stake your claim on it and welcome challenges. What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger.

I believe that everyone has a fear of rejection, some people just overcome that fear better than others.

Think of it like this: If you never ask anyone to be a contact, you'll never have any contacts - which equals failure by lack of effort.

But, if you ask 15 people, and five become contacts, then you have made 5 new acquaintances - which equals success.

Courage is not the lack of fear. Courage is doing something even though you are afraid. If you waited until you weren't afraid anymore, it wouldn't require courage, would it?

Be brave my dear and know that you are valid and important no matter how anyone reacts to you! Believe in yourself and others will to. And if they don't - then they are idiots! LOL

Good Luck!

I do fear rejection and I know that keeps me from making friends here in the e world and in the real world too. It's a dangerous mind set though and I've promised myself to be more daring.

The fear of rejection.. a lot more worse comes out of fearing it and never doing it.

No, I thrive on rejection! Maybe, it's because I've survived depression, and everything looks up from here. People have their own lives. They're not out carousing around trying to spoil your day. Make contacts, and enjoy yourself! Lighten up and have some fun.

Very rarely. I can accept the fact that some people are going to like me and others are not going to like me. I don't have an issue with rejection.
