He has shot at a person that he thought was messing with his car, and I think I should have full custody now and he needs to go to counseling, and then we can change it to joint custody, am I wrong for this?

The only valid reasons for divorce are repeated infidelity and the necessity for safety of the spouse or kids. Any other reason is a violation of your own committment before God.
Most likely your life will never be "right" again after a divorce. The best that you can hope for is to get used to the brokeness in your life. That's why those 2 reasons exist, those situations cause more brokeness than the divorce.

I would definitely bring that up (if you have proof) to the judge. Your ex sounds like he needs anger management classes before he can have custody of the kids. You want to protect your children. If he can't control his anger in ANY situation, you do not know what could set him off towards your children.
You could ask for full custody - or ask that he have supervised visitation rights... Tell the judge your story and ask what your options are. But if you do not have proof (a witness or a police report), it is going to be your word against his.
