Yes. I'm essentially a Buddhist, but I've been strongly influenced by the writings of a philosopher and a Christian by the name of E.F. Schumacher. He is most known for the book "Small is Beautiful", but his favorite book (and maybe least successful selling book) was "Guide for the Perplexed."
In this book, he reasons that using the scientific method as the ultimate guide to the truth, leaves too much of the world out of the human experience. Since reading this book, I've tried to keep an open mind and not restrict what I know to what can be confirmed by the scientific method.
It's allowed me to become more spiritual and open to new experiences and ideas.

I have read hundreds of books that have shifted my thoughts, and my paradigms. For many, they might keep the Bible close by...I supplement this with other inspirational, practical wisdom, motivational books, and social justice books...
"To Begin Again" by Naomi Levy, about finding comfort after loss.

Yes, in 1972 when I was 12. It was called "Go Ask Alice" author anonymous. It's a diary of a teenage American girl and her introduction to drugs. It's fascinating and tragic. It changed me. Both of my own kids, who are in their 20's have read it. A very profound and important piece of non-fiction literature. I recommend it and 12 is not to young to read this book. My parents gave it to me.
