I know that its illogical because every part of our brain is required to live but Is it true? Does it mean we use only 10% for thinking? Can we unlock 90% for super human abilities?

we do not need every part of our brain, that is another myth. through MRI's and other testing we have shown that we use our whole brain, but there are same people who were born missing large portions of there brains and what is left seems to rewire the way the brain works and they lead a normal live.
as far as to where the 10% number comes from, well the say 75% of all statistics are phony.

The myth arises from the fact that our brains contain more glial cells than neurons. Glial cells make up about 90% of the total mass of the brain. But as we research these cells, we are learning that they are involved directly in brain function.

I think that is a statistic that someone made up years ago and it was so catchy that it is often repeated.

Here is a debunk of that. http://www.csicop.org/si/9903/ten-percent-myth.html
