Does anybody have a clue to this power situation?

My home computer will no longer power up. I thought that it might be the power supply, but now that is not the case. When I built my home network, I built it with a NZXT Nemesis case powered by a 400w Orion power supply. I have a MSI K8N Neo4 Mobo (G52-M7125X2) with a AMD Athlon 64/FX 3200 CPU. The only thing that I've added recently was a new Microsoft Blue optical mouse.

This past wednesday, my system shut down completely. I suspected the power supply when I couldn't power it back up. Ordered a new one from Newegg (Coolermaster 430w) and it will come on for about a 1/4 second and then automatically shut down again. I've checked my back-up power supply, my home, my attachments, and everything else. But all is working fine. I am at a lost to what to do next. Other than completely rebuilding my home network and that is a possibility.

if it's not psu problem, could be anything actually. first to check are ram sticks. if you have more than one, remove the other one and power up your system, or try changing their places. also, you could try inspecting your motherboard for bloated capacitors.

Tha mobo is notoroius for the chipset fan going bad and causing that exact situation. In fact I have that exact in my friends computer adn I just RMA'd it because the Chipset fan stopped spinning and it would not boot. It would turn on for a second and then the blue case light would flash. If I unplugged it for a whild and took out the CMOS battery it would start but it would not run well.

So my short answer is that your mobo is bad.
