You may have vitamin deficiencies and it is causing your thoughts to "wander" rather than being able to focus and concentrate. That can be due to poor diet, or you may just need to take some vitamin supplements. A visit to your GP and some blood tests will tell you for sure. The longer you put off being checked out, the worse your condition can become. You don't want to find yourself daydreaming while you're driving and cause an accident that could have been avoided.

Daydreaming is by no means a 'bad' thing. However, if you feel it is interfering with your ability to complete normal activities or is to the point that is causes some discomfort, impairment, or alarm, then I would recommend you see a mental health professional to explore attention deficit conditions. Simple medications and/or skills building techniques can help you control when it is appropriate to lose focus or daydream.

ADHD is such a common diagnosis and many people live their entire lives constantly losing focus or daydreaming, and just never gets it checked.

You mentioned "it was never this bad." If you do have ADHD, you have probably had the proper tools in place to manage your inattention in your own previous, and now some change in your living/work situation has made those tools render insufficient or are gone all together.

Chat with a counselor/psychologist/psychiatrist about this one, and they will be able to proper assess and treat this.

Daydreaming is a sign of a good creative mind. When daydreaming your mind looks for patterns in things which you may not consider during full conscious thought. Finding patterns in things assists the brain in long term information storage.

It has times when it may be inappropriate to daydream such as when doing things which require mental concentration; operating machinery, driving etc.

It may be perfectly normal, or it may be a sign of a disorder such as ADD/ADHD. If it's causing you stress or creating negative consequences on your daily life you may wish to seek out a trained counselor. If you find it's effects do not have major negative consequences then enjoy it!

And maybe you need to find some friends who's interests more closely match your own. It's quite possible they are simply boring you with unneeded conversation.

I doubt you daydream cos you are bored. You probably, like me just wish life was more magical & exciting.

You may be taking life too seriously and have things on your mind. If that's it then you may have a lack of concentration problem which is quite common. It's a vitamin supplement curable complaint but I'm not a doctor. Can't tell you off hand which sorry!

Did you just get married??
If not this could be plain boredom. OR
How do you see things around you? Is it just your ears that are affected or do you still appreciate the pleasure of everyday things.
What do you notice if you go for a walk? If your answers are nothing and no to these questions, it may indicate a phase of depression. Also, if everything you eat tastes like sawdust, and you are easily startled I would go and talk to your Doctor.

wow cos i do the same thing infact i have this person taken from a movie and i follow them around and stuff and they tend to go through the same kinda events i go through in life (kinda like a game of sims) been going on for about 5 years now lol i guess i just get really bored or if i don't want to be somewhere it happens, i think your normal and i highly doubt its ADD/ADHD beacuse people seem to stick that lable onto alot of people and children when they don't acutally suffer from it if you suffered from it people would had known by now trust me. I think you are possibly just very creative and things in the world just arn't stimulating enough for you try painting, wrting poems, drawing and listing to music stuff like that to let your creativity grow.

Maybe you have a rare but serious disease that is affecting your brain? Maybe you should go see a doctor to see what's happening...
Or you just like to daydream. But I'd go to the doctor, because that seems bad!

It is the time of the year for contemplation and inner thought. Spring and summer are more active seasons where as fall and winter are more contemplative. It is your seasonal body clock at work!
