if you're using win xp, you can just alt-f4 until you get to the shutdown screen and just press enter or U.

I beg to disagree... the Power Supplies on dell computers (dodgy or not), if they fail, they cause a no power/no post scenario (this is, no signs of power at all, or blinking yellow/orange power light with no video, or solid yellow power light). For the symptoms you mention it could be overheating, since it is not possible to turn the computer on immediately. But if now has past a long while (several hours) since the last time the computer shut down... THEN I can think, that's a power supply/motherboard failure. Hope this helps, Ces.

Actually yes you can.If you on an apple or mace click the button to the left of your space bar.If you on a windows then press the button to the left of the space bar that has the windows sign on it.after that use you control arrows to move up the screen next click enter when you are on the thing you want.there you go.Have a nice day!

Yes if you have a windows compatible keyboard you can press the second button in from the left hand bottom corner of your keyboard and use your arrows keys after that...Easy

As well as the two above, on a PC you can press Ctrl+Alt+Delete. On older systems just keep pressing it til it closes. On the newer ones (XP, etc) you can tab through the options til you get to Shutdown, then press Return.

in windows, from the keyboard, you can click the window button on the lower left of the desktop, and navigate with tab or up and down keys and enter button to shut computer down.
