For one, you have to be able to withstand a lost of pressure.
And there would be the heat....
The heat made metal become liquid. What do you think it'll do to people?
And the pressure compressed the inner core so much that it's solid, even if it's past the melting temp.

I would encounter the hyperbaric (High pressure) layers, High temperature, greater gravitational force, thermophilic microorganisms, 0 gravity (Inner core)

it would be very hot.
our equipment would melt.
eventually we would theoretically hit some solids.
those may prove difficult to traverse.

for a scientifically accurate account of a journey through the earth's interior, refer to the movie "The Core". and by scientifically accurate, i mean ridiculous... but may entertain you.
