I only have one which is work related. I certainly do think they have their uses but overall they are too invasive for my liking.
Why do people talk for so long on them when they would not consider doing so on a land line?

My life was probably happier in the '80s. No mobile phone, no television, no computers.

lol...Not really, now I can talk to my friends and don't have to worry about my nosy family listening in to my conversations...I really don't remember NOT having a cell phone! I got my first when I was 14. I had an after school job and saved my money and bought a pre-paid Verizon phone...and when I turned 17 I got my first contract phone! Besides before I was 14 I wasn't on the phone much anyway! I love my phone....just not the bill..lol!

Yes it certainly was. Mobile phones are a complete waste of time and credit. They also spread numerous viruses and get you in a lot of trouble.
I once got suspended from school because my mobile rang during the annual examinations!

Probably, but in some ways it has been a blessing.
For example, there are people who I have only kept in contact with through texting.
I do think the obsession with phones is ridiculous though, now that I'm older I think I could definitely live without one.

I say we go back to the old rotary phones. Then we don't have to hit all those buttons and enter all those #'s before we get a real person! And we won't have to press 1 for english!

I don't see a connection between owning a mobile phone and being happy.

No, I am alot happier now I have one. I used to be worried driving on my own without one and feel reassured that my kids can contact me anytime.

Mine hasn't made much difference to me; I hardly use it. I got it so that people could contact me in an emergency if I'm out. Since then I've used it for texting but thecompanies will never grow fat on the money they make from me! :o)
