I have a long weekend available and want to go away. I have never been to Amsterdam and am curious to see it. I will be traveling alone and am a little unsure if I should go alone. The other choice is London. I LOVE London and have friends there. I was just there last month and I still have much more to see there as well.

I went to london for a weekend a few months ago and it is a great place to go to, strangely it's very easy to get around, transport wise, I didn't think it would be, it being so big. I never got lost once. There's a lot to do in it, besides shopping. Although Amsterdam is a great place as well. Most people go to amsterdam for one reason, I was the only one in the group that didn't go for that reason. It might sound stupid but I would recommend you go see one of the windmills. Never seen one before going to amsterdam. I did get lost in amsterdam a few times, but that could be not recognizing the names on the metro map. I don't live in England but have heard of the places on the underground map. it's tough to choose between the two places. but seen as you've been to london already, I think you should go to amsterdam.

I think you should go to A'dam. It's really beautiful, fascinating, and different from any other city in the world. You can walk it and get to know it fairly well in a long weekend, and there's more to it than the red light district, though that's a novelty to see as a quick walk through. In my opinion, uless you're really shy and closed, you''ll meet more people going alone. I did, and I fell in love 2 times in Amsterdam. (Also with Amsterdam). Plus Holland has such a young and liberal vibe compared to England. A'dam isn't a huge city like London, and it's got such a relaxing 'greenhouse effect' so if you want to try the different flavors of canna-b you'll have a great time. Stoned or not, you'll enjoy it. It's hard to leave and if I could I would live there part of the year.

Hi Mee...

London is bigger and more expensive. London and Amsterdam are very different cities, if you want to see more of the same go to London, if you want to experience something new, go to Amsterdam... There's no point in making any other comparisons between the two in this case I think, they're just too different.

It's just as safe to go to London alone as it is to go to Amsterdam on your own, but if you already have friends in London you wouldn't really be alone there... It's up to you to decide if you want to travel to a "strange" country alone or not...

I hope this helps, please let us know if you have any further questions.

I have never been in London, but I have been in Amsterdam twice because it' s wonderful!
If I was a man I would go alone there because maybe it' s the only capital where you can't go without a friend. I saw a lot of guys that were alone in coffeeshops and they looked like they were having fun!
It' s easy to meet people and to talk with them!
TRYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!

Since you have already got a glimpse / taste of London, why not go to Amsterdam this time? You can then compare the two cities yourself depending on your taste !!!!
