I decided after the couple of spankings I got in school, that they weren't fun and it was a better idea to follow the rules.
Somehow, I miraculously escaped permanent psychological harm. Do you think some kids would benefit from this nowadays?

That's what I grew up with and I wouldn't have dared disrespect my elders, I learned to say please, thank you, yes sir, yes maam, you're welcome. I find that you don't find that as much anymore. It's appalling how some kids talk to their parents and other adults. If I'd done it I knew what was coming. I wasn't beaten by my parents but they weren't afraid to swat my back side. Would it make a difference today??

In a way yes I think some kids would benefit if the threat loomed over them and it would keep them on their toes. The students were sure more careful not to get out of line. The flipside is some teachers were very abusive not spanking but pulling your hair, clonking your head into the blackboard, hitting you with a ruler. Strange thing is the same kids always got the punishment. I was with the same group of kids for eight years. So I don't know if they ever learned their lesson or they had AD/HD and couldn't help it. I sure as heck behaved.

I was glad to see it end, because I've seen it misused too many times. I've seen too many instances where the pounding (and yes, that's what it was) had less to do with what the kid did, and more to do with the teacher being in a bad mood. Not to say that it was always wrong, but since it can cause soooooo much damage, I'd just rather not take a chance. There are ways to instill discipline other than using physical violence willy-nilly, as the mood strikes.

That's a really tough call. Some kids have so much lack of respect today it's hard to say if they would learn anything from it or come back and start shooting, and say it was all because they got spanked in school.
It's pretty bad when we become scared of children.
Sad.

Getting spanked by a teacher is why there are so many kinky people today. Now they are making commercials to lure the kids into fantasizing about spanking their teachers as in the flat bun commercial. Butt's should be off limits in school settings!

Ya know, I never got a spanking in school, although they did have it where I went to school ( a strict Christian school)
Some kids would benefit from it. for some, if they actually got attention from their parents that might make all the difference in the world.

I grew up in the 70's and this was allowed in public and private schools. It definately was a detractor for behaving badly. Knowing how kids are nowadays, it would end up on You Tube and you would be getting a call from their lawyer. Kids are sooooo pampered now!

That's a tough one. I never got spanked in school. I was raised to behave myself. My mom would have torn my @ss up if I did something in school that warranted it. I don't think it's the school's place to teach kids how to act. I think that's the parents job. Morning darlin. â¥

HECK YEAH!!!
The ones at school were more "humane" than the ones my mom gave out at home.
For some reason it only took one school spanking to keep me on the straight and narrow (at school)

By the time I hit school I was so terrified of adults I just sat nice and quiet.Never did catch the strap there :)
