Hi dear friend~I hope you have a wonderful weekend--what's left of it!
Okay if I feel this as I go along? I guess that because I have life, because I'm living, because I don't know anything else, it "could" seem like a gift. A gift, as in something bright, delightful & (most of the time!) joyful. Yet, I don't think of it as something "given" to me; I simply have it, & it's valued. As that, I intend to take the best care of it that I can & to cherish it.
For those who believe in a creator, I suppose they will think more of the giver. I respect that, & I hope it makes them happy. Personally, I think of life as something enriching, & if I'm caring about myself & others--equally---that "gift" will become more beautiful over time.
On a "silly" note, there are sometimes gifts we'd love to return, aren't there? Much love--Puff

Life is a Gift, given by the Giver which is God. Happy Weekend to you too.

You're the top contributor in this area so you know it's both. Of course it depends on 1. the perspective you adopt and 2. the different stages of life. It can be considered a gift if you picture yourself as someone who received it and a giver if you picture yourself as someone who gives or brings life - by helping create one (needless to say how...) or by providing more life to someone who doesn't enjoy theirs. Usually, when you're young, you're a person who gets life and when you grow up and progressively get away from a typical childish narcissism, you become a giver. Good weekend to you too!

Life is a gift, and the gift is the simple fact it's a giver in a way that gives you something to take from it

I believe it is both enki, life is given as gift to all in the hopes that we will use it to the best of our ability, on the other hand without life giving us chance after chance to live, grow, change and adapt we would not be here, so life is also a giver as well.

It is both.

Life is the gift given to us by God, who, here, is the giver. After life becomes ours, it becomes the giver. Depending on what we do, it either gives us happiness or sorrow.

And, have a great weekend, too!

Not a gift because nobody consciously gave it - at least in my specific and particular form apart from a vague inclination to have kids perhaps. So I see it as a lucky accident. That makes whatever it turns out to be largely a gift from me to me, depending on whatever "gifts" I've got. My Mum didn't tell me about having an affair with God, so I presume that's out of the equation. I know I can't perform miracles - although I can cook my own meals. But it's getting complicated so I think I'll just get on with it while I can.

Life is a contingent and finite reality, and is therefore dependent on an eternal and infinite reality for its existence. Life is is the gift, the Giver is that which nothing greater can be thought.
