When burning DVD's the Speed of the Media you use as well as the Software you choose can play an important part in your success. Always buy top of the line Media as well as the correct Format of media. I suggest you use a top of the line Media such as Maxell 16X DVD-R
This Media will tell you on the packaging that it will burn on the older burners at 1X, and 2X as well as the newer machines that there speeds jump up to 4X, 8X, and 16X.
Buy them in individual Jewel Cases they are better Quality.
Top of the line Burning Software such as Toast-8 and the Settings you choose will also affect the success.
Data,
Audio,
Video TS
You must have the correct selection of the content you intend to burn.

It could be several things. First, see if your DVD needs a + or - CD or if it could accept both. Buy a CD compatible with your writer. Second, the quality of the blank CD you are using. It took me several trials and errors to find the CD my burner would accept. Try buying the cheap stuff first, that way you don't waste a lot of money. Third, there is a speed adjustment ... try using the slowest speed. Fourth, it could be the software installation ... try reinstalling the software. The chances of the writer being defective is minimal although it happens.

go to the manufactures website and see if there's an update for the firmware and make sure the program you're using recognizes your DVD burner model might need to update the software

Write DVDs on lower speed (x2 or x4) not x16th and don't do anything else on your computer while burning

this is gloomy, extremely. it is what our international is coming to. human beings would desire to get their butts off the pc for a on the same time as. i assume i'm one to speak, by using fact i'm on mine a lot; although, I write issues on a daily basis: I take handwritten notes at school, I write out essays and then type them (instructors do not settle for handwritten essays at present), I write in a mag (not a weblog). the international is attempting to be greater severe-tech, and that is ruining itself.
