The Core2Duo actually IS an AMD64 architecture. This should not be a problem, though, if you are installing a 32-bit version of Ubuntu.

Your problem with Flash is not unusual. There is no native 64-bit version of Flash available. There is a method, however, of installing 32-bit Firefox on AMD64. Here are the instructions I used to get it working:

You must have made a mistake during the installation process OR you downloaded the wrong version of Ubuntu.

Start over, after downloading the latest version for 64 bit Windows machines.

Re-post if this doesn't solve the problem.

BTW, most drivers are already built-in and the built-in "Add Programs tool" doesn't care what CPU you have.

As another reply states, if you are running 32bit Ubunu it shouldn't really matter.

My desktop did not properly recognize my AMD processor until I did a command line install, and then I learned there was a separate kernal and goodies for the AMD processor.

If you are really concerned try reinstalling from the command line. But if things are working, don't worry about it.

Hi, that is a very weird problem because most Linux operating system support dual core or quad core. I suggest that update the operating system or go to the Ubuntu Forums where u may get proper help. You may also have to try another distribution. The truth is that all Ubuntu has got is popularity, otherwise out of the Linux distros in general it sucks, many other better distros out there.
Good Luck!

I imagine you only have Fire Fox as the web browser. If you download and install Sea Monkey web browser, it works better at installing plugins itself.
