I think it's because the companies that produce today's toons don't really give a rat's *** about the quality of the product they put out. Oh man, I really miss the toons that were out in the 1960's and 70's. I could go on and on, but I think I'll stop here.

The same reason everything today is worse: they are made by marketing departments to sell product.
Things used to be made for creative reasons with product peddling on the side.

I'm pretty sure it's because everything has to be cutting edge these days, and politically correct. Look at Strawberry Shortcake for example: I waitied *years* for them to bring her back, but when they did they ruined her.
