at first i didnt like it but now i kinda like it. can you imagine the look on peoples face when you pass them in a 4dr wagon lol. i own a 06 sti and i love it but i think the best looking subies would have to be the 04 05 sti. i have been hearing that the new subarus are a little quickier. like a half a second quicker, which sounds nice but i have to see for myself.the new evo is going to have a 6 speed tranny with a audi like feel with the twin clutch setup which sounds nice but i dont know. i am a subie owner and will always choose a subaru over evos. i love the H4 setup and love the sound, it sounds mean. i like everyone above and how they love their subies.

I do believe that the boxier look is better in the sports car world. 03-06 WRX. But the wagon lacked good design for years and had no room. The new wagon design is great but at the expense of the sedan. I agree the EVO will be a better looker, but I think Subaru is betting on the fact that past owners will still buy it. Once a Subaru owner always a Subaru owner.

Mitsubishi is leaving the United States in a year and are getting made for special order only. The new Impreza looks like a KIA or a Hyundai, but seem to be attracting more people due to its smoother lines. Reliability and performance, I would go for the Subaru, looks, I would go for the Mitsu.

I'm with you on the redesign - it sucks.

If I was in the market, I would wait to see what Subaru does in the next year or two - in hopes that it would improve. Seriously, I am a Subaru fan - love my WRX - but I am waiting.

If no improvement, I might consider the Lancer EVO (the two years will allow them to work out some of their own kinks)

Yep ... I thought this at first and then I saw one up close. It's more attractive than the pictures (it would need to be)

Then I drove the new WRX. Sensational! Far, far better than my MY03 or MY02 previously owned.

Evo's are great but very twitchy (even more than the STi). And I don't know about where you are but the price is way out of my league! If you want a road car that goes as fast as you could ever hope to go, is super safe and reasonably comfortable, the WRX is superb.

So then I bought one. I pick it up on Friday! :-)

(I doubt I will ever think it looks as good as my WRC Blue MY03 ... but that's something the performance will make me live with!)

I think that the Lancer and Impreza have lost some raw appeal. However, these are suppose to be more mature looking cars with the same- if not improved performance.

anyone ever see an old civic hatch run a 11 second quarter mile??? bc i have and it looks kinda like the way the new wrx hatch is gonna look...i think that hatches look like ****, no matter what, but theyre sooo light that they make perfect track cars, and i dont see a thing wrong with that....i would rather see something look like ****, and run 12's than look like it runs 12 and it wont start...

One of the most common mistakes in buying a car is making the choice on looks alone.
I have owned one Subaru, and have not bought another. It was a good car, but I like a true sports car. Which Subaru is not.
But if I was in the market for a full time four wheel drive, maybe I would consider one. But not now- when I want four wheel drive, I want more ground clearance.
