Barry Bonds contract wasn't renewed with the San Francisco Giants, does anybody know which team he is going to play with next season?

Peter Magowan knows. The rest of us can speculate.

Bonds is old and really only suitable as a DH and fourth/fifth outfielder; the Giants are well past time to move on and seriously rebuild; his big show is over; he costs a lot (to the Giants) for the number of games he can play; his salary has constrained the front office's flexibility; the 2008 team isn't going to contend with or without him.

It is time.

Where will Bonds play in 2008? Almost certainly in the American League. Expect him to DH about 120 games, start in the outfield maybe 20 and do late-inning defensive replacement maybe another 10. And that's if he's willing to accept a salary commensurate with that much playing time mediated against his ever-increasing risk of spending time on the DL.

Bonds is, today (the season's not over, he may move slightly closer), 65 hits short of 3000 and 68 runs short of Henderson's career record -- both marks reachable if he plays another 120-140 games. And even a small chance at a championship ring is better than retiring and having NO chance. Some team will sign him for 2008. Based upon very circumstantial reasoning, I'd guess Oakland; but the Yankees would be a hoot an'a half.

The Giants have been paying him about $15 million a year to play hurt. He is 42 or 43 and near the end of his career.

If Barry Bonds decides to play next year, he will likely sign with an AL club as their DH.

Why pay the guy that much money to play when he wants because of health issues. Besides he's not the same left fielder he used to be..He'll be in the American League next year and it wouldn't surprise me if the free spending Yanks dont get him...He might stay in Cali though and play for the Angels

The Giants can no longer justify paying him for his role on the team. His best opportunity to play would be Oakland, but I don't think anybody will sign him. I think his career is over.

The biggest reason is because the giants want to rebuild and get younger. They also want some payroll. The A's , mariners , Angles are some teams in the talks

Youth movement and dollars. Actually, he is better off if he goes to the AL as a DH. He could last longer as he won't have to play a defensive position. I think he would be a great addition to a team. Look at his onbase %age and he still can hit the long ball.

I hope no one signs him. He is old, cant play the field, and requires a huge paycheck. So unless some team is willing to take an old/injury prone steroid abuser, i dont think he will get signed.

1. His defense is horrible. 2. the Giants need to get some players who don't have AARP cards. It looks like the American League is his best shot, if he wants to continue to play. He can be a designated hitter there. I heard Oakland is interested. There have been no definite plans as of yet.

He's not playing for any team next year. I'm pretty sure he's career is done.
He's a below avgerage outfielder who does drugs. Why would you want to keep that piece of scum on your team?!

Because they need younger players that can play everyday. I think he'll go to the American League. Possibly to the Yankees.
