My son will be 5 months old in 6 days. Theres nights when he sleeps all through the night, but lately I feel like he's 2 months old again. He wakes up screaming for a bottle. I've tried to just comfort him back to sleep I've tried to just let him cry it out. But he wants a bottle. I have a problem with the nipple collapsing , I take it out of his mouth to let air in and he screams like he'll never eat again. I give him a full 8ozs before bedtime. I don't know what his deal is. Any thoughts?
In desperate need of sleep!!!

Would The jars of Stage 1 food be considered solids? We did recent;y try it beacise he was watching us eat and wanted our food. But the thing is once I give him some carrots or what ever it is I'm feeding him. He wants all of it right them and there. I'm afraid to give him too much because he might get an upset stomach. But once again he starts to cry. He's not over weight for a baby either, at least thats what my doctor said , he weighs 18.13 ozs and is like 31 inches. He's growing tall wise more.

Babies are ever changing and growing.
Really boys get more hungry faster then girls... I do not know why.
I have he first boy in 13 girls and I experienced the same thing your going through.
I started him on a couple of spoons of Pablum just before bedtime, with a drink of cource and that would hold him through the night.
I know EVERYONE says NO solids before age ONE.... but lets be real.
NO mother can go a full year with only 2=3 hours of sleep a night and still function during the day or even be a good mother.
*** in the warm milk put a tablespoon of the pablum, shake well and make sure you have a nipple that is open enough for him to get it out because it is much thicker then he is used to.
Babies sleep best with full tummies just like everyone else.
Best of luck
** I WOULD NEVER THINK A MOTHER WOULD SHAKE HER BABY.... gezzz, lets keep to the facts listed.
We are talking about a sleep issue.

He's probably hungry. With my first baby I did it all 'by the book', making sure he had the 'correct' amount of milk for his age. I tried to be the 'perfect' mother. (there's no such thing). He ended up screaming like yours. Another experienced mother told me to try giving him a bit more at each feed instead of counting the ounces religiously - so I started to give him as much as he wanted to take. It was about half as much again as he'd previously been taking and it did the trick. Happy baby, no more crying - day or night. What a relief. What's on the packet or in the book is only a guideline. You have to use your own commonsense.

Try Dr. Browns bottles. My daughter had problems with the nipple colasping with other bottles. Also , a coulple of teaspoons of cereal at nigghtime and in the morning might be the trick. Don't listen to others about starting food. I am a mother of 3 and a grandmother of 3. The fact that he is drinking 8 oz. is telling you he is hungrier for more food. Its time for cereal.

Sounds like your baby is having a growth spurt and needing more feeds. Feed before he sleeps as usual but try waking him for a feed just before you head off to bed. You may get a few more hours rest.
At 5 months you can also start introducing solids into your bubs diet. This will help to fill him. Try something like farex rice cereal. You can get cereals for babies from 4 mths.
Also check that your child isn't teething painful gums cause restless sleeps and sometimes I found more bottles it soothes the gums.
Most importantly make sure bub hasn't got wind! for some reasons babies suck when they have wind.

hello my 6months old son is the same!!
i try giving him some baby cereal ( mixed with his milk) around 6pm then a nice warm bath then an 8oz bottle, he goes to sleep around 7ish and thats him until 4am so it is getting better at 4am all he has is his dummy or an ounce or 2 of milk i then have to wake him at 8 so i can get the others to school!!
my son was on solids( stage 1) from 4months the health visitor advised me to put him on them because hes a big boy who was having 8oz of hungrier baby milk ever 2 hrs!!! he now feeds every 4-5hrs and has breakfast, lunch, dinner & supper!!
good luck x x

It coudl be a growth spurt or the fact that milk isn't enough. Maybe you should try adding some cerealto his bed time bottle. I would start with oatmeal it is easiest to digest if he isn't on solids yet. Don't forget to step up nipple size or cut the hole a little more.

Maybe 8 oz of milk is too much for him at night time. He could be screaming because he has wind and that is painful. Have you tried to burp him before you give him that bottle.
My son had bad wind and vomited and screamed and when he was three months old I put him on cows milk and he improved straight away.
Hope this helps. You will eventually get to sleep. Stay in there.

He sometimes had a malty drink for his last feed which helped settle him.babies go through growing spurts. He will need a little more food at this time. I was very lucky, my son started sleeping through the night form 9 weeks old with no problems.

Babies do tend to change their phases and it may just be a case of sitting it out. it is possible to let a baby cry, you don't have to go to them straight away if it is routine or attention seeking crying. you should consult a dr or expert on this though. have you tried giving him a cuddle in bed instead of feeding him - he may just be missing you and want some reassurance. Try not to worry but if you think it's abnormal either medically or physcologically then see your dr or a nurse etc for an expert oppinion. :o)
