When my life is stressful - which is usually - I try to do something enjoyable that takes my mind off what is bothering me. If you're trying to go to sleep and can't then I'd just try to think of things that you enjoy. Plan a little outing for yourself, do something fun. Along with that - try to prioritize your tasks so that you get the most important things done first - then the "leftovers" won't be such a big deal.

I write in a journal, about everything that is stressing me and this does help. If you feel like your that stressed that it's upsetting you or your losing your mind it would be a good idea to see a Doctor. What sort of work do you have to do at home, can you put it off? I like my house to be neat and tidy but this isn't always possible especially when I have my daughers friends staying over. I just try to ignore the mess, and I clean the house when everyone has left.
I also find walking to be a good stress reliever, you have to push yourself to the limit when you do this and I find that it helps to clear me head.

Go for a walk every day. Make it part of your daily routine. Figure out what is causing your stress and take care of it. Most stress is caused by problems that seem out of your control and you feel like you haven't got any options. Take care of the little things that bother you and realize that the things that you have no control over will work them selves out.

Take time to meditate. Read up on meditation and do it properly for the best effects.
I used to drink, but found it to create more stress in the long run so I wouldn't recommend that.

you can try to relieve stress by getting rid of some of it. is there anyone else in the family who can share in it ?
if it is volunteer work , just be honest, it is impacting your sleep / mental heath. you will help one time per month only.
you must get a handle on stress becuase it is tough on body / can effect blood presure / depression , lots of things.
sleep is only one.
honestly it 's best to eliminate the stress than to add medicines to try to manage the stress. ageee ? i wish you lush .. prayer helps tool
you can ask for benedyl to help sleep or ambien. they are non addictice for sleep emergecies. they will help but they are risky too.

Try to take the time to go for a long walk everynight, and take your favorite music with you...choose a place that is calming, and beautiful...and listen to something that makes you happy...you'd be surprized how that helps you relax
