You are thinking in three dimensions. It's natural to do so. What is space? Nothingness, a total vacuum, devoid of anything, a void, an empty "space"?
How do you measure the size of nothing?

Space is getting bigger and the density of space is getting
smaller.
Space is a finite entity so it must have a maximum and a minimum size.
Space was at it's densest one-thirty billionth of a second after it came into existence.
As matter formed and space expanded it's density decreased when it attains it's minimum density it will begin to go out of existence.

Actually, the universe is getting bigger but that doesn't mean something else has to get smaller. A balloon can get bigger without shrinking the room it is in, right?

Well it looks to me that you had gotten too close to a sun or something. Your all bubbled upped! My understanding is that the earth keeps getting 1 inch futher from the sun every year. So doesn't this mean the universe is getting smaller. Because were getting closer to being out of control. So it's getting smaller.

thats only a theory that the universe is getting bigger. they say that all the planets and solor systems constantly being formed, they blame dark matter for it. another theory is that time goes backwards in dark matter. pretty cool ah.
