Jack Russels are the funniest, cutest adorable small dogs there are!
As a child we always had JR's and now a couple of brothers have them. Not one out of the 5 Jack Russels our family have owned have been snappy or nasty in any way - it's how you train then and bring them up. I personally think that people think becasue they are small dogs they can be treated like companion breeds made so popular by celebs. A Jack Russell is not a companion breed, it is a working breed and needs an active, knowledgeable person to bring out the best in them.
In the right hands, you can't get a better dog.
In the wrong hands they are snappy, yappy nightmares of dogs.

I have had a few Jack Russells as pets when I was younger, the last one I had lived to be 19 and was a lovely dog, got a bit excitable in the snow or on the beach however and would just run around very very fast in large circles for about an hour or two! She could however be a bit snappy, especially if somebody put their face close to hers, never anything serious, just a small nip if anything! She was also very independant and would sometimes like to spend time on her own! The good points however did out weigh the bad and i wouldn't have swapped her for anything else! If you are considering a Jack Russell I would say be careful incase you get a snappy one, especially if you have small kids who are likely to want to play with her and may not appreciate a nip here and there!

We used to have a Jack Russell puppy years ago but parents had to return him because he kept biting me and my brother hard ( hard enough to pierce the skin). I'm not saying all Jack Russells are like that but on the whole they do tend to nip. They are very cute, and they are very active. You need to way up the pros and cons of having one before you make the decision. There are other lovely little dogs which I think are nicer and gentler such as Miniature Schnauzers. You could have a look at that breed...

Any dog can be nice, as long as you train it right. My jack Russell used to bite and go crazy but he's a well behaved dog now =]
Jack Russells are great dogs.

Jack Russels can be nice but as with all different breeds of dogs you have to know how to handle them. They were originally bred to rabbit/hare hunt so please be aware of this and check every square inch of your garden for holes or gaps in hedging and fencing. Don't be fooled either into thinking tiny holes or gaps will be ok because you'd be surprised how tiny a hole a Jacky can get through! They can be "nippy" but, again, this can be controlled if you know how to. Go to your local library and have a look through reference books to check out different breeds. You might find a different breed that suits you better. The Crufts website gives useful information. If you are in any doubt whatsoever which would be the best dog for you don't just go for any - better to wait than pick the wrong one. This could be dangerous and/or upsetting for both you, your family and for the dog itself. Hope you find what you're looking for. Check out "The Dog Whisperer" on Sky everyday at 6pm. Cesar Millan is absolutely fantastic and he will amaze you with his knowledge and understanding of all things canine! xx

Hi!
Don't know. I've never tasted one.
Seriously, we had a Jack Russell for years and he was a great character. As others have said, they have the common small dog tendency to yap and nip playfully, which can be annoying, but they have a keen eye and are quick learners.
Their liveliness can be challenging or invigorating, depending on your personal energy levels.
Good wishes.

Any dog is only as nice as u make it! Jack Russels are a big dog in a small body. Also, they are terriers, so require plenty of excercise. You love him/her to bits, and they will do same for you. In answer to your question, yes, they are lovely animals.

All breeds have there little quirks, but at the end of the day all factors have to be taken into consideration, the temperment of the actual dog, the way it is trained to stop all the problems by nipping (no pun intended) them in the bud

My friend has one. She NEVER shuts up yaps most of her walk, yaps at the slightest noise in the house and yaps and yaps when someone comes to the door. Not like my Wire Haired Dachshund who barks that there is someone at the door and then is quiet.
The dog breed is very active. They need LOTS of running and lots of exercise and not a couple who are ill like my friends.
We say that if we asked the 2 dogs if they could change the lightbulb mine would say Oh I would love to Mom but my legs are to short. Their dog would say I sure can I will do it while I run around the walls and on the ceiling. Personally I would never want one even if I were 20 and exercising all day long.

Hyper, wiggly and absolutely funny to watch. They have a great sense of loyalty. I love them. They can be a little nippy, though, so watch them around very small children who like to pull tails and ears.
Still... I saw one the other day that almost folded in half wagging his tail because he was so excited to see someone!
I looked after a friend's Jack Russell for a couple of months, and found him to be smart, appreciative, and loving affection.
My next dog is one of these, or a foxy!
