I just got it yesterday and noticed when I was taking a photo of the streetlamp at night that there is one hot pixel in the upper right hand corner. Seriously, do I send it back and wait the month or so before I get a replacement? No, we don't have any electronics stores anywhere near me so taking it to one is out of the question. I live on an island and we ship things to and from the real world.

Yes, it is a hot pixel and it is present in all photos in the same spot.

Are you absolutely positively certain this "hot pixel" is present in every image even in daylight photos? Any possibility it was from a pin-point reflection in your night scene?

Have you tried taking a photo of the evenly lit sky? That would show any defect.

I'd call the Canon service line and ask if this is a common problem. Since you just bought it they might be willing to send a replacement and the postage to return the defective one.

Good luck.

One pixel won't show up in any prints that you make but if it's really bothering you (it'd bother me too) you're going to have to send it out and wait the month till you get it back. Sorry for the bad luck.

Apparently you're gonna have to RM it and live with it until you get a new one back. Sorry to say. I guess you're gonna have to stuck with your old cameras for a time being.
