I went to the dentist yesterday and I am suppose to get braces the next time I go back in about a month. I had one cavity and they put two fillings in my teeth at the back on the top and bottom. I also had to get shots for numbness so I wouldn't feel pain and that hurt really bad. Still hurt as of now I can barely chew food. I just want to know will braces hurt I've heard so much about them and will they also help my teeth because they are trying to space apart. The dentist told me that I don't have a over bite or a under bite, its called something else which I've forgot, something like anti bite or something. please help!

Okay so I got braces when I was 13, and still have them at the age of 14, but i was all freaked out cuz everyone said they hurt. Now to tell you the truth they only hurt for the first 3 days and than everytime you get thm tightened (every 2months) other than tht you really dont feel thm, and liek i could care less about having them it dont make much of a difference.

Yes, it will hurt. If they have to pull teeth to make room for the rest of the teeth to be pulled back, that will hurt. When you first get the braces installed, it will hurt because they'll rub up against your cheeks and the inside of your lips and makes them raw. Each time you go to the orthodontist and the adjust (tighten down) the braces, your mouth will ache for 1-3 days. I used to have to put my food in a blender because I couldn't chew after ortho visits. But in the end... it's all worth it. I'm glad I had them.

properly the brackets will sense strange once you first get your braces positioned on via fact your gums isn't used to having something rubbing against it. they may well be scraping your gums slightly, so be certain to apply wax to positioned on them. (ask your orthodontist for some) properly... braces would properly be exceedingly painful once you first get them on, yet they are actually not undesirable after that. the only different time it hurts is once you get a sparkling twine and perchance your first tightening or 2. desire this helps!

I had braces in elementary school. They made my teeth a little sore but thats about it. It hurt a little having them put on, but it wasn't so bad. I just hated the bar on the roof of my mouth. There wasnt much room for my tongue and it hurt, I lived on speggeti os for two weeks. Which was really all I ate as a little kid anyway.

Yes, it may hurt for a bit at first because of your mouth trying to get used to them being there. I had a huge problem with pain when I had mine at 13 but that cleared up after a few days. The other thing I had to do for a few days was primarily stick to liquids because I couldn't eat solids for that time.

But everyone is different.
