Yeah, there are a lot of Indians in Fiji. That might mean they are terrorists.

Anyway, there are as many terrorists in Fiji as there were in Iraq at the beginning of the war

I doubt it. Even thought the US is interested in Pacific relations, there would be no reason to invade Fiji. They only got their independence from Britain in the 70's, and are obviously still working out their own governmental problems (what with the coups and all). If anything drastic happens in the government and it becomes permanently a dictatorship and if human rights are violated, most likely it would be New Zealand and Australia to send forces, not the USA. It's too far away from the mainland US for us to go there unless absolutely nessecary, which most likely won't happen.

Heck no!

The legitimate, elected government of Fiji now in exile asked Australia and New Zealand to invade Fiji, not the United States.

Clearly invading small island nations under illegal military governments is not on anyone's priority list right now.

Er... why would we? Most Americans can't find Fiji on a map. (Okay, so some of us can't find Iraq on a map either, but generally we can at least point to the Middle East). Now I'm going to have to google Fiji and check out the current events....

Okay, looked it up. BEAUTIFUL place. And intriguingly, my Texas town has a lot of Tongan residents. But still, no indication as to why the USA would invade. It's more in Australia's province, right?

Possibly. In a large "grand war" type situation, like WW3, If Fiji becomes an important strategic location (say to base long range bombers) and refused to let us station our bombers there, it is possible that the U.S. would invade the island in order to use it as a platform to launch further attacks against enemies.

Right now? No. Not even a 1% chance.

If stupidity were both painful AND illegal, you would be in extreme agony and under arrest. WHY would we invade Fiji?

no

Fiji is an Australian responsibility, due to its proximity and the amount of aid pumped into it, by Australia.

You have two factions; native born Fijians who resent the settlement of Indian Fijians who brought investment and commerce to the island. That 's why they are always having coos, someone in the military gets their nose out of joint and there goes government.

stupid really we that australia gives aid; we can grow our own coconuts.

That's why Bush is starting to pull out of Iraq, he plans to send the troops to Fiji so America can lose to them on the way home from losing to guys who build bombs by hand & use tablecloths as combat helmets.

Why in the hell would the USA want to invade Fiji.

Are you wanting the business/economic input that follows a US invasion?
