Well since you mentioned the religion thing not sure if your saying you don't care which religions answer or that you don't care about religious beliefs, I'll answer the way I think your asking it, Hell is a hard thing to talk about without mixing religions into it as thats where our beliefs in hell come from.
I'm a Christian with belief in the Word of God which is written in the holy bible. The Bible has several areas where suicide is mentioned and from what I gathered from it, it seems as though taking your own life is in a sense dying in sin, which the Bible mentions also that sin can not enter into the kingdom of heaven, which leaves the alternative of hell.
the only true reason I believe that God would forgive suicide is if there was no chance of surviving a situation which put your life or someone else's in instant danger, such as jumping into a river to save a child even though you know your won't make it out alive, I think back on the victims of sept 11th and the choice of jumping out of those building, do I believe they would go to hell? No way, they had no option but to die, I would have jumped as well.
I don't believe a person should take their own life for any other cause even if religion played no part, it is a permanent solution to a often temporary problem. Feeling sad and ending your life is not a good way to solve the issue.
If you are a religious person that has questions concerning this, no matter what your beliefs speak to an elder in your house of worship or family if you can about your concerns, if your not a religious person seek help with a local suicide hot line or counselor.
I do understand you said that your not feeling this way, just wanted to toss in a little info in case a lost person comes across this question seeking to find other answers than hell isn't real.
Good question though, hope I gave some insight if not hope someone can : )

God is a forgiving person, I believe, maybe if that person who commited suicide ha s a good purpose, then maybe God will give him a second chance.
think of Hell as our institution. What does our society do to Emo kids who are caught attempting suicide? Isn't that punishable?

No they don't go to hell. They however have cut their development on the earth plane short. I'm sure once in the spirit world they deeply regret what hurt they have caused their loved ones and taking their lives. The most important thing they would need is forgiveness so they can heal and continue in the spirit world.

I don't believe that people who commit suicide go to hell. I think that they have just a fair chance as anybody else, and that they don't deserve to be punished in anyway. They are usually depressed and have no wish to live-these thoughts should not be punished.

No I don't think they would go to hell. It's very hard fo rpeopel to understand the depth of despair someone has when they are suicidal and I wouldn't think god would punish those who are hurting so much that they no longer loved life...

Shaikh Ibn Uthaimeen: The Suicide Bomber is Not A Martyr And Is In Hellfire
http://www.binuthaymin.co.uk/
Author: Shaikh Ibn Uthaimeen
Source: Riyaadh us-Saaliheen (1/164-166), Trans. Dawud Burbank
Article ID : MNJ140001 [8823]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Words of Shaikh Ibn Uthaymeen Concerning Suicide Bombings
Shaikh Ibn Uthaymeen, may Allaah have mercy upon him, said in his explanation of Riyaadus-Saaliheen (1/165-166), whilst giving some points of benefit from the hadeeth of Suhayb, may Allaah be pleased with him:
"That Allaah¹s Messenger, sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam, said, "There used to be a king amongst those who came before you, and he had a sorcerer. So when he grew old he said to the king, I have become old so send a boy to me so that I can teach him sorcery" the hadeeth. (Riyaadhus-Saaliheen, no. 30)
Fourthly: That it is permissible for a person to expose himself to danger for a matter of general benefit to the Muslims, because the boy indicated to the king the way in which he would be able to kill him, and which would lead to his demise, which was that he should take an arrow from his quiver etc.
Shaikhul-Islaam (Ibn Taymiyyah) said, "Because this was a Jihaad in Allaah¹s cause, which caused a whole nation to truly believe, and he did not really lose anything, since although he died he would have to die anyway, sooner or later."
But as for what some people do regarding activities of suicide, tying explosives to themselves and then approaching Unbelievers and detonating them amongst them, then this is a case of suicide and Allaah¹s refuge is sought. So whoever commits suicide then he will be consigned eternally to Hell-Fire, remaining there forever, as occurs in the hadeeth of the Prophet, sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam. (i.e., his, sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam, saying, " and whoever kills himself with an iron weapon, then the iron weapon will remain in his hand, and he will continuously stab himself in his belly with it in the Fire of Hell eternally, forever and ever." Reported by al-Bukhaaree, no. 5778 and Muslim, no. 109, in the Book of Eemaan.)
Because this person has killed himself and has not benefited Islaam. So if he kills himself along with ten, or a hundred, or two hundred other people, then Islaam will not benefit by that, since the people will not accept Islaam, contrary to the story of the boy. Rather it will probably just make the enemy more determined, and this action will provoke malice and bitterness in his heart to such an extent that he may seek to wreak havoc upon the Muslims.
This is what is found from the practice of the Jews with the people of Palestine so when one of the Palestinian blows himself up and kills six or seven people, then in retaliation they take sixty or more. So this does not produce any benefit for the Muslims, and does not benefit those amongst whose ranks explosives are detonated.
So what we hold is that those people who perform these suicide (bombings) have wrongfully committed suicide, and that this necessitates entry into Hell-Fire, and Allaah¹s refuge is sought and that this person is not a martyr (shaheed). However if a person has done this based upon misinterpretation, thinking that it is permissible, then we hope that he will be saved from sin, but as for martyrdom being written for him, then no, since he has not taken the path of martyrdom. But whoever performs ijtihaad and errs will receive a single reward (if he is a person qualified to make ijtihaad)."
(End of the Shaikh's words)

Personally believing fully in fact and science I don’t believe in a “God”. I believe in evolution and factual evidence so I can honestly say; Suicide is not a crime. So many people are going to be angry at me for this. In my defense you believe what you believe and let me do the same! :)

However, for someone to even contemplate suicide i believe that this must mean them going THROUGH hell!
It's a terrible thing!

I've always had a fascination with suicide since I was young, and I've come to believe according to my obsession and what I've learned is that you don't get damned straight to hell for suicide.
I believe there's more to it.
