"Piriton" tablets are brilliant. Sounds like you have hay fever and I feel for you; it's bloody awful! As a sufferer also, I always have those tablets to hand as they not only do the trick, they work quickly. If you have an allergic rash, insect bite, sting, nettle rash, etc., "Eurax" cream is brill. also. Always have that in the first-aid box too. Both of these can be bought over the counter and are reasonably priced!

The Over The Counter (OTC) medication that has the strongest antihistamine effect is diphenhydramine (brand name: Benadryl). However, the only downside is that it may cause drowsiness. If you are looking for something non-drowsy for the day I would go with loratadine (brand name: Clariton). One pill (10mg) last for 24 hours and won't make you sleepy.

for me the best thing i have found is alavert or benedryl i take alvert during the day (the ones that dissolve in your mouth seem to work faster) and if needed i take bendryl at night (it makes you very drowsy) i have found that claritin worked for a while but them stoped and have found the same with other allergy meds i think it is b/c my body gets immuned to them so i switch mine every so often but alavert and bendryl havent' given me that problem and i've been taking them both for about 2-3yrs. hope this helps :)

Polaramine, Zyrtec or Rhinocort. Polaramine is a tablet for allergies, Rhinocort is a nasal spray and Zyrtec is capsules that are good for hayfever symptoms. Go for the type or one that you prefer.
