Jesus was the Only Begotten Son of God. Nevertheless, Jesus is the Christ. So in context, it appears that when Jesus refers to the Only Begotten Son of God, he is referring to his role as the Christ. Thus, the Christ is the only begotten Son of God. Now, the term Son of God is often used in other contexts in the Bible. Thus, Jesus the CONSUMMATE or MOST COMPLETE AND PERFECT Son of God, but there are other people referred to as Sons of God. The natural conclusion: Buddha, Muhammad etc. were Christs? That is, they were all the only begotten Son of God, as they all have the role of the Christos [Anointed with the Spirit.] Thus, there are few perfect Christs, but Jesus was one; and there may be others. Your thoughts?
This is a respectful question so I would appreciate respectful answers. You do not need to agree with me, but please be polite, and I will show the same courtesy.

Sorry it's a bit of a lengthy read. Still, the Bible does say, 'There are clouds and darkness round about Him!'

Good answer from Nicole; I used to think they were really different too. Then I did some research and thought differently.

A respectful answers from David, but I am afraid I respectfully disagree. As I understand it, the eternal Word of God was joined to the Man Christ Jesus.
Jesus said 'the spirit of the Lord is upon me.' i.e. the Word. Thus it was not Jesus the man that was co-eternal with the father, but rather the Spirit of God, the Word, which Jesus embodied perfectly. Nevertheless I appreciate this answer.

Greetings Friend,

I enjoyed what you had to say and I thought it was fairly accurate. God has only one Son. It is the Christ, which is who we really are. Jesus realized who he was. However, I do not think one can say Jesus was the most complete and perfect son of God, because God has only one Son - the Christ, Who is and always will be the complete and perfect Son of God. Jesus may have realized his beingness more completely than most, but he was not a more perfect son for God has only one complete and perfect Son - the Christ.

Jesus spent forty day in the wilderness, going through what I believe is the dark night of the soul, where he got rid of his Jesus identity and realized who he was - the Christ. Jesus surrendered himself to God and God used Jesus' "life" to bring others to the truth of who they are/were. In this way, he is a savior. If we surrender ourselves, we can be used of God to help save others.

I like your thinking. Blessing!

sending love,

Yes, there is only one Son of God, and that's Jesus. We are sons and daughters, but we were created in his image, and adopted into his family when we accepted salvation. Jesus was part of God, (trinity) and appeared on Earth in human form. He was not a seperate created being, he was God. Muhammad, Buddha etc may have been exceptional humans, but nevertheless, still human. None were actaully God, and none have risen again from the dead.
I can't recall any other biblical references to the Christ which aren't refering to Jesus.

You can't compare anyone else with Jesus Christ as them being Christs' also. There is only one, and His name is Jesus. In John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
The same was in the beginning with God.
All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
In him was life; and the life was the light of men."

Now, none of these other gents you mentioned were around at that time, nor did any of them rise from the dead to life everlasting.

So, you see my friend, Jesus "is" the only begotten Son of God. Without Him you will never see the Father. John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me."

Do you believe my friend? If you haven't yet, now is the time to confess your sins before God and ask His forgiveness and ask Jesus into your heart. Ask Him to teach you what He would have you to do for Him and to teach you His ways. He will, just truly believe and trust.

Hello Dude
You are correct in saying Jesus is the son of God. There is another instance and that is Adam. However the bible is specifically divided in two covenants or testaments. They are very different from one another and the new supercedes the old. In the New Testament we ALL can qualify to be Gods adopted children. The pre-requisite for this is that we believe Jesus was the son of God and that He died in our place on the cross. From that statement God is saying that there can only be one son and that is Jesus, although Adam was too, He had died. Therefore if there was more than one son it would invalidate Christianity.

I personally take it to mean that He refered to Himself as THE Son of God bound in human flesh. When it says the most complete and perfect I take it to mean that He was more perfect than any other human that lived, thus, He was the consumate. As the other two had very differing views, I don't believe that they were a christ.

Come all ye sons of God, who have received the Priesthood
Go spread the Gospel wide and gather in His people.
The latter day work has begun to gather scattered Israel in
And bring them back to Zion to praise the Lamb

a christ is a savior, so your references are wrong. the others may be prophets because they changed peoples minds, but they themselves did nothing to save others other than talk. Jesus brings people together, thus saves them.
