It all depends on how you define "successful." I think Cheers might be up there, as Woody Harrelson, Ted, Danson, Kirstie Alley, Shelly Long, and Kelsey Grammer have all starred in movies with some relative success.

There's not many TV sitcom actors who successfully cross the divide and move into films and become real A-list material. I would probably agree with other answerers - "Friends". They've all done movies now, but the level of success between them leaves a lot to be desired.

Of the A-List actors I can think of who started their careers in TV and became even more famous in the movies, "Taxi" was good for Christopher Lloyd and Danny deVito, Bruce Willis made his name in "Moonlighting" and Robin Williams was in "Mork and Mindy". Ron Howard out of "Happy Days" did alright for himself, but he mainly works as a director, but you don't get gigs like 'The Da Vinci Code' if you're not successful. A couple of the other "Happy Days" cast went into directing as well - Henry Winkler and Anson Williams, but again, not many truly make the transition from small-screen to large-screen with any degree of success.
