I mean, if you don't believe in what we believe in, why do you find it such a threat that you must try to belittle and destroy it? It doesn't make sense. Do you go out and try to convince the world that Superman isn't real? Why is Christianity a threat to you if you are an unbeliever? In fact, why would you even give it a second thought?

Rest easy, Good Doctor Chai. I am actually quite sane. Your answer just gave credence to my question!

I notice that the majority of people stay away from God like vampires to garlic. anything that God is in, they run away from it or erase it, or destroy it. Look at christian music artists, they rarely get popular because of their lyrics. the government is doing it to, taking "seperation of church and state" way too far. I don't get it either.
I usually don't feel safe when i want to mention God in an answer. thanks for this question.

It's not just Christians, almost any religion or political affiliation will open you to criticism.

Why do people attack a Christian point of view? People see it as ' Prostheletizing'. If you preach your views then others might believe them because they don't think critically. They may also believe them because they are true.

Think of it as a big brother scenario. Those attacking often think anybody reading your posts lacks the brain power to make their own mind up about the validity of your points and by preemptively attacking your post they are lowering the probability that those they are 'looking out for' will believe what you say.

Then there are the posts that push a structured agenda in completely inappropriate ways. If somebody asks a biology question then an answer that attempts to insert religious doctrine in a manner that is contrary to rational or safe practices will be voted down or attacked.

In the end, I do not wear my religion on my sleeve and I don't want somebody to sell their religion to me. In granddads words from the Boondocks, "You ain't a Jehovahs Witness are you, cause I'm in the Jehovahs Witness protection program.'

Christianity isn't a threat to me, I'm married to a christian. On this forum I will answer a question with my beliefs if it is asked in that type of manner which of course is that I do not believe in any deity nor anything supernatural like afterlives. I do not go to questions that ask specific religious topics and cause chaos. I know most of the answers to those questions as I have a decent background in religions from both growing up in a christian household and taking classes in religion on the college level but generally I tend to pass by those questions.

My non-belief is right for me, it is not right for everyone - each picks their own path. I will admit though, one of the things that really rubs on my nerves is when people of any religious belief claim that those of us who have none are not moral people.

The day that people start arguing that students should be forced to pray to Superman every morning in school or that 2 consenting adults shouldn't be allowed to marry each other because Superman wouldn't like it, then maybe you'll understand why non-believers can feel threatened by something they don't actually believe in.

I personally don't find anything Christians say as a threat. I also don't try to destroy what Christians believe. I DO believe, however, that I'm entitled to voice my opinion. You may interrupt this as being a threat or belittling if you want. That's your prerogative.

Think of it this way.. if said to you that the man on the moon was created by aliens and that they used to live there many years ago and now they watch us from the little holes in the moon, and i had a church where i prayed to them, would you think i was nuts? thats why we get atacked because it just doesnt sound real. We worship a man who could walk on water that was created from a virgin and a god that has never been seen? um ok im sure that sounds nuts when you really think about it. I believe in god and jesus to but i understand why others dont. oh and some people attack because they have been hurt in their lives and think god is to blame.

I wouldnt say all posts by Christians get attacked.

I would say and have observed that posts by fundamentalists and evangelists who use posts as excuses to preach and spread propaganda do get criticized by both non believers and more moderate (or is that sensible) Christians.

We have had several posts today on Noah's Ark . Presumably some TV special claiming it was "found" was repeated on American cable?

That kind of post does deserve critiques!

Atheists and Fundies who show a lack of understanding of science and several other subjects like logic get negative responses. Fact of life on Answers!

Why would someone post a question (or belief) if they just want everyone to agree with them? The point of a forum like this is to get different views on topics. Dont take it so personally

Christians NEED to be attacked. It gives their cause meaning and confirms their belief that they will be persecuted for their absurd mythology. If they were not attacked, they would have faded away a long time ago.

Same reason some Christians tend to over run the "abortion" questions. People have have questions, and the people hanging out here have answers (and really strong opinions). Some people just want to hang out where the action and controversy is.
