People do what they want. Just remember that Jesus was persecuted as so shall we. "To live is Christ, and to die is gain." Just be a light to those around and not someone who shoves religion down other people's throats.

Yes, let's all adopt your beliefs, your religion, your ethics, etc. It would be a much simpler world if we just agreed with you on every little thing. Unfortunately, I don't even know what you think about anything, so I can't just parrot you. No, I have to think for myself. When did that become anti-American? Anyway, to answer your question, George H. W. Bush started referring to "liberal" as "the L-word" during his first presidential campaign, and conservatives, being the deep thinkers that they are, picked it up and ran with it.

Fundamentalist Christians aren't original Christians, but groups who have made up their own set of beliefs to fit their own agenda. This is why it is looked at with skepticism. Among the fundamentalists, there are some "extreme" shifts from the original religion so yes...it makes people not as accepting.

The best answers can be found at www.rebuff.org. I suggest reading all 3 of the introductions that are offered, not just the one that pertains to your way of thinking. Fundamentalism, whether it be Christian, Jewish, Islamic, or any other, is dangerous especially since it doesn't just relate to how you approach religion and belief, but how you expect the entire world to do as you do and believe as you believe. That is wrong, for my life has led me to my own belief system and it is not the same as yours yet you would try to make me into something I cannot be, which is also wrong. As my favorite author states in her primary book series, " There is no One, True Way", we each must follow the way which is within us. Yours may be to follow the Abrahamic Traditions, but mine is to follow the ways of the Mother Goddess and her Consort.I hope you can learn to accept that others do not believe as you and never will. If not, the Powers That Be have mercy on your callous and shrivelled soul.

I think they deserve it. I am a Christian.

In my experience, Fundamentalist Christian = Legalist.

It means that this person preaches works, as in that Christian is a judge, and if that judge does not see enough works to satisfy him or her, they are to vocalize it as being 'backsliding'. They set upon themselves the crown as if a Pharisee.

Not only that, they judge Homosexuals as being 'unsavable'. Which is not the Gospel which they had abandoned. Fundamentalists will drop the Gospel in a heartbeat in order that they might attack homosexuals and whatever other sin that they deem obvious. That s not the Gospel message!

So to me, the Fundamentalists long ago had their ranks and teachers befuddled by Satan.

Movies, music, T.V. and newscasts have promoted a negative view of fundamental Christians. In a survey of 104 of the most influential television writers, producers, and executives found that these were extremely liberal people...
93% say they seldom or never attend religious services.
75% describe them selves as left orcenter politically.
97% believe a woman has a right to decide to have an abortion.
Only5% agree strongly that homosexualiy is wrong.
86% support the right of homosexuals to teach in public schools.
51% do not believe adultery is wrong.
Only 17% agree that extramarital affairs are wrong.
there is clearly anti-Christian bias in the media. when you think of the amount of people who are on a steady diet of prime time slime, it's no wonder that what theythink about Christians is being shaped by what they see.
Am I tired of it? I can't say that I enjoy it ,however, when the church is atacked it tends to wake up and we certainly need to wake up.
Remember that Jesus said the gates of hell shall not prevail against His church. God bless!!

why would you think i'd be tired of it, john?

fundamentalists have shown us many times that their beliefs often lead to actions that are bad news for everyone. too many of them can't abide modern society and science, and want to see it destroyed. tolerance can only extend so far. you would like to pretend that it's simply "christianity" that's being attacked, but fundamentalism is only one corrupt branch of christianity. i suspect that most christians wouldn't miss it.

I am tired of fundamentalists judging others, imposing their obligations on others, attempting to make society an expression of their views, excusing and claiming their fear and hate of others is love of God or even love of their neighbor, misrepresenting God as a Hater, attacking science and scholarship and diversity of knowledge beliefs and spiritual Paths.

When fundamentalists focus on correcting their own failings, I might start taking them seriously.

that is a pair of words... not one word... two words which have come to mean the same thing. Original Christianity is much more mystic and alluring than modern dark ages Christian-psychopompic inanity.
