For example, I want to put my insurance under my mom's name, but the title is in my dad's name. Is that possible?
Serious answers only please!, I don't give a c%#$ about what else you might have to possibly say.

In order to insure a vehicle you have to have "insurable interest". That means you have to suffer economic loss if something happens to the vehicle. In general, you can not insure a car you don't own.

Are your parents married and do they reside in the same household? If so, then the policy can be in your mom's name with your dad and you listed as drivers.

If your parents are divorced or do not reside in the same household, then the policy will need to be in the name of the registered/titled owner with you listed as a driver.

Yes it is possible, but your insurance agent may ask for an explanation. If your dad owns the car but cannot drive it for some reason, then it's OK. Otherwise, he may assume you're trying to game the system and insist that you put both names on the policy.

btw, what else were you anticipating people saying?
