If you took one full grown man of each religion i.e. one mormon, one catholic, one muslim and one of all other religions but left out any atheists because they would be considered a "placebo"....

How long do you think these people would live in peace before ripping each other to shreds?

Doesn't that seem ironic to you that people who claim to be following their religion and living their life trying to meet God's expectations may be least tolerant towards each other?

Do you know what a placebo is?

In this hypothetical experiment of yours, groups of atheists would be considered the "Control". If you'd like to get really analytical, then your experiment is faulty because by segregating the atheists from theists you can only prove that people with different religious opinions live in less peace than do people with similar religious opinions. (As atheists all share something profound in common: the BELIEF IN THE LACK OF DEITY.) With your approach, I could take a group of Christians and then have a second group of "everyone else" and attempt to prove that Christianity promotes peace.

You need to isolate ONE SINGLE VARIABLE to manipulate in order to provide causality.

All the other religions? That would be impressive.

Anyway, I'm sure its possible for them to get along. Even debate can be peaceful if the right people are involved. I think charity (in the ancient sense of the word) is more important than "tolerance", whatever that is supposed to mean now.

There's a flaw in your position. Chiefly this...the ability to exist in peace for any length of time depends not on religion, but on what sort of men these are? Are they men that profess a religion but justify doing whatever they please? Or are they men who truly do their best to actually live according to the word of the Almighty as they understand it?

Humble people who are truly trying to follow in God's footsteps would be able to live in peace and forgive each other for those times when they falter.

I'd be willing to bet that in your hypothetical situation, they'd get along quite well, and maybe have some pretty good spiritual discussions about God and His nature. They all have common ground so to speak.

Not everyone shares your cynical and jaded outlook on religion and God, BTW

What do you expect us to do? It is money concern. Are you that blind? 10% extra in the coffer from one individual we win. Winner takes all, the fight is what is all so interesting. Go and play with your dolls.

Let's just say I'm glad I would be one of the "placebos."
