That is just the way it goes. First one place is technologically advanced, then they become complacent and someone else surpasses them. I mean, Baghdad was once a metropolis of ingenuity and science. Besides, Toyota is starting to slip in quality which was the main reason to buy one. American car companies have started putting some quality back into their vehicles. Possibility of bankruptcy has a way of changing your company policy but if you are on top changing your plan could cause a lot of trouble.

I don't think it matters how anticipated Metal Gear is, I doubt it will beat 8 million warcraft fans paying $15 a month. So what Japanese game pulls 120 million a month?

First, let me say that I congradulate Japan and the Japoneze for all their technological accompliments.
I don't think anyone in the world denies or refutes the fact that Japan has led the world in technology and production.
The world, including the US, only admires the Japoneze for these things.
We do not see Japan as an enemy or a competition, we see them as a friendly trading partner, and as an admired culture.

However,
There is a well documented obsession in Japan. Japan is obsessed with the USA.
They want to dress American.
They want to entertain themselves like Americans do.
They want to eat and drink like Americans.
They want to talk and walk like Americans.
In short, they watch America and American culture very closely, and try to emulate it.

I don't understand this, as I believe that Japan and Japoneze culture is beautiful and historic.

Although, I suppose that when you go to or visit Japan, well, you're in, well, Japan. As opposed to being in the USA, where you're in the middle of "IT ALL".

Americans would do well to learn to appreciate the fact that the world's eyes are on us, and that other cultures imitate our every step.
We should achieve, learn, and produce.
I worry that one day Japan will realize that they have betrayed their culture, history and honor to chase after an empty dream.

While Japan's success is impressive since WW2, it came about because of American aid. Japan is still subject to their treaty with us, and can nor have a military, although there is an effort under way to ease that restriction.
Has Japan out run us on some points, yes it has, and I'll give them that credit. That said, if we imposed tariffs on Japan that should be in place, Japan's economy would crumble.
I'd also like to point out that a boycott on exports to Japan would cripple that country in very short order. Gloat if you please, but the American owned computer foundries support Japan's computer industry. We also supply Japan with a good portion of their food.
While Tokyo is big, it also has a big pollution problem that is a problem for them. Smart though they are, if they are not careful, their progress could strangle them very quickly.

Hate to burst your Anti American bubble, but those cars sold in North America are built in the U.S. If your going to bad mouth Americans at least use proper grammar and spelling.

If America is so inferior compared to Japan why are they so in love with our muscle cars, and other elements of our culture. I've been to Japan twice how about you?

Americans have become lazy and expect their "government knows what's best" Nanny State to take care of all their problems for them (Vote Democrat or Republican without REALLY paying attention to the issues) and have exported nearly all manufacturing jobs to China. HAH, it's hard to believe there was a time when "MADE IN JAPAN" meant cheap, inferior goods but now it's "MADE IN CHINA." "MADE IN JAPAN" means high-tech, high quality anymore and GOOD LUCK finding anything that says "MADE IN USA."

I doubt this person is being real, probably some Chinese or Korean kid trying to start some anti-
Japanese BS on here...and judging by all the stupid "we make better bombs" remarks I would say it worked. Grow up guys. Japan is probably one of our best friends in the world right now, who gives a *bleep* what some moron on here says. If the Chinese attack Taiwan, who do you think would be there with us fighting them?

I believe that Americas greed is causing the decline of America. Corporate America and stock holders have sold out the American Worker in the interest of Profit. We no longer care if our country thrives as long as the rich get richer. The Rich are cutting americas throat. But how are you going to buy your expensive products in the US when the majority are unemployed?

By shipping our manufacturing jobs overseas we are guarenteeing our own destruction. Try finding a pair of American made running shoes?

But who cares right? Go buy another Chines TV, VCR, or pair of Nikes. Support a chinese worker and put another American worker in the unemployment line, who cares. We will only have to pay his unemplyment.

Do you have a question?? As was said, you should be on Japan's website, not ours. If America "sucks" so much, why do you wanna be here conversing?

We could care less what countries you think are better or worse than USA.

If you want a technical answer, Japan's factories are newer than America's.

You are being very intolerant, and you have terrible grammar.

I have never been to Japan myself but have lived in Hawaii where there are many Japanese people.I find them very nice ect.
They have an interesting culture but I think they have been insolated more than we have in the USA.
My son's girlfriend and her sister are going to college here in the US, they are from northern Japan.
They would love to stay in the US when they finish college. There must be a reason they want to stay.
