I don't see this behavior from Atheists, Agnostics, Jews, Pagans or Polytheists. I see this mostly from Christians. Why can't they/you just answer the questions that YOU YOURSELF have decided to answer of your own free will, without resorting to lame and unfair assumptions about the asker? And why the ad hominem attacks? I don't understand. I try to be open-minded about the people who follow mainstream religion, but the followers are some of the rudest individuals to hold a conversation with. I've found this out by conversing with them/you myself.

Seriously, people, you need to work on your manners. I mean this with all the love in the world. When my friends do something wrong, I tell them before they get immersed in it, and this is what I am trying to do now. I love you guys, but your arrogance is THE reason why you're disliked by the non-believers.

Excuse me, but I didn't attack Christians in my question. Not ONCE did I say a mean word about Christians. I only asked how they could possibly love a god that does those horrible things. If you interpreted that I was being mean, that was your own paranoia.

No, angelic, it's not "a couple of Christians". There you are assuming again. This is MOST of the Christians I've come across. They are notorious for their blatant arrogance.

No, Annie, it's not the same. I ask a simple question, and instead of answers, I get told that I haven't read the bible (an unfair assumption, and an ignorant one too, since I pointed out things that are in the bible when I stated my question), I get told that I'm a Wiccan (another assumption based on lame evidence) and I get strawmen. This is all arrogant behavior and it all came from the Christians.

AFI07, no it's not an unfair assumption on my part. I am basing it on evidence.

No I've never heard of rose-colored glasses. You can IM me and tell me about them if you like.

AFI07, I think you need to re-read my question.

Demo, I would think and HOPE! that the people reading this would be intelligent enough to know that I am not talking about any person in particular, that I am making a broad generalization based on life experience.

I'm sorry you have come across some rude Christians. We are not all that way though. My faith has helped me through some tough times, and when I share it with others, I am not pushy or anything. I always respect other people's beliefs and feelings. I hope you find what makes you happy in life and I hope you meet some nice Christians who will change your opinion of us.

Well, some Atheists, Agnostics, Jews, Pagans and Polytheists can and do make unfair assumptions.Even your question made an unfair assumption by not saying "some" or even "most" when addressing a group. It is rather unfair to lump up the entire group and suggest that group is the only group that does something negative or that the entire group does that negative thing.

I want to make it clear, I am not defending Christianity.I personally don't agree with theism of any kind. But when I address my problems with theism I try to make the distinctions between who is and who isn't part of the group I am addressing.Yes, many Christians can and often do make unfair assumptions and I personally think that arrogance is a part of believing that you are right and everyone else is wrong just because your religion or Bible tells you so.And, so, I am by no means a willing defender of Christianity. But I still make the distinction between the good versus the bad and the kind versus the cruel and the open minded versus the ignorant.

First off I would like to say that MOST people make assumptions; regardless of their religious or non-religious beliefs. I am also non-religious, but your question comes across as rude. Unfair assumptions have been made by both sides of the field. Your question stating that Christians make unfair assumptions, aswell as some of the answers; stating that Atheists make unfair assumptions.
All people are different, you shouldn't judge them by their beliefs. Get to know them first before you make statements as such.

You know for awhile now I've seen some of the rudest and nastiest answers on here by people who are not believers.
Why can't people who have decided to answer questions on here, of there on free will, be a little nicer than what they are.

I've seen people ask other people to pray for somebody and non-believers will answer the question with a nasty comment.
Seriously, you need to work on your manners.

I hope that you do realize you are making a very unfair generalization.

I did counter question -- not very long ago -- but without railing any accusations and without carrying any prejudices against you, as a person.

We are ALL sinners and fallen short of the glory of God. So, you and me, and everyone here is likely to be rude every now and then, but generalizing based on responses is not right. What say you?

Are you sure that you are not seeing Christian words as "rude" because they are not in agreement with what you think. Not agreeing and being "rude" are 2 different things.
I am a Christian and since eternity is incomprehensible to the human mind...it is important to me that I tell as many people as possible that they need to see the light. I want people to spend that eternity in heaven with God...not in a non consuming fire. I don't believe that makes me rude. I believe that makes me passionate about what I believe and the eternity of others. It's because I care that I tell people these things.

You * tell your friends before they get immersed in it*, and I quoted............ hmmmmm, seems like the same angle to me, only YOU are putting us down for that...... Ill mannered ?? Arrogant ?? and just who are YOU to point out what is right or wrong for your friends ???? Unfair assumptions ?? Hmmmmm, again , and just what are YOU doing now, with this question ?? I think I see a few manners slipping, a touch of arrogance, and a whole lot of assumptions........ and I also say all this with love....... go in peace...... God bless

Yes. Christians are the only ones who make unfair assumptions. You are so, so, so, so, so, so, right.

Good observation. ONLY Christians.

You are not a hypocrite, so don't think that you are.

EDIT: You ARE dense, aren't you? You wanna see an unfair assumption? Then read this:
"Why is it the Christians that always make unfair assumptions?

I don't see this behavior from Atheists, Agnostics, Jews, Pagans or Polytheists."

That was an idiot thing to say. And it was unfair.

I can only answer for my self . I am a christian, I only answer as the word of God states. I don't care if the non-believers like me. I tell the truth and don't change. Non believers are suppose to get upset. And real believers are not suppose to take down. Study the real word of God and you will not so quickly call us arrogant, We are not of this world and you can't be all with us.

umm....just like you just now made an "unfair assumption" about all the Christians on here? yea i thought so....bit hypocritical don't you think

edit: evidence? where the hell is your evidence? i say all atheists are rapists and child molesters with no morals, yet i provide no links, but as long as i say i have "evidence" it's true, right?

edit:i think you should re-read your question, not saying one mean thing about Christians? you called us arrogant, are you blind? even the atheists agree your being a hypocrite...look up the word?
